Brandon Williams

Brandon Williams decommitted from Arizona, but the UA is now back on his radar, along with Gonzaga and Oregon.

Brandon Williams' stepdad has talked to media consistently and openly through the recruiting process, and Williams himself opened up to interviews with Rivals' Goazcats and Fansided's Zona Zealots during preparations for the Ballislife All-Star Game this week.

What to make of it all?

While Williams doesn't sound from his interviews Friday that he's certain to re-commit to the Wildcats, he appears pretty good at keeping things close to the vest.

Chris Wright, Williams' stepdad, told the Star on Friday that everything's still "status quo right now" and that the family will have a final discussion this evening.

Williams broke down his three choices in video interviews with Goazcats and Zona Zealots. He told both sites he liked the Nike/Phil Knight connection with Oregon, since it can help lead to professional opportunities after basketball, and cited strong relationships with Gonzaga coaches.

Williams told Zona Zealots that Gonzaga is a winning program that consistently makes the Final Four (it did in 2017), and that he enjoyed playing with the Zags and checking out coach Mark Few's office during his visit.

"It was wild," Williams told Zona Zealots. "Coach Few's office is cluttered with trophies. Nowhere to sit."

Williams told Goazcats that Bol Bol and other Oregon players are contacting him about playing there more than the coaches, and that UA is a "great school" with promising players.

"They got some potential with Brandon Randolph, Ira (Lee) so it wouldn't be a bad move," Williams said. "I know Chase (Jeter) got stronger and bigger going against Deandre (Ayton) every day."

Williams is scheduled to make his announcement during the Ballislife All-Star Game, at some point around 3:30 p.m. The live stream is expected to be on this YouTube link.

Arizona Desert Swarm writers are generally optimistic about UA's chances of landing Williams.
