Arizona Wildcats quarterback Brandon Dawkins is questionable for Saturday night’s game at Utah, increasing the chances that freshman Khalil Tate will make his first career start.
Dawkins (ribs) is one of three players in the questionable category on the injury report released Thursday afternoon. The others are left guard Freddie Tagaloa (knee) and tailback Nick Wilson (knee). Tagaloa did not play last week at UCLA. Wilson re-injured his sprained ankle against the Bruins.
Anu Solomon, who opened the season as the starting quarterback, was upgraded from out to doubtful. But Solomon remains a long shot to play as he continues to recover from a knee injury suffered Sept. 7.
There is some potential good news. Linebacker DeAndre’ Miller, who missed the past two weeks because of an ankle injury, is listed as probable. So are offensive linemen Jacob Alsadek (shoulder) and Gerhard de Beer (ankle). Both were injured last week.
Four players are out: fullback Jamardre Cobb (knee), receiver Shawn Poindexter (foot) and defensive linemen Parker Zellers (knee) and Luca Bruno (ankle). Cobb, Poindexter and Zellers already have missed games; Bruno is a new addition to that group.
In all, the injury report includes eight players who have started games this season.
