Another Arizona Wildcats football player has retired because of medical reasons.
Defensive end Darrell Cloy Jr. announced his departure via Twitter on Sunday evening.
โAfter talking with my family and after much prayer, I will be retiring from the game I love due to medical reasons,โ Cloy wrote. โThis is truly the toughest decision I have ever had to make. I would like to thank Coach (Rich) Rodriguez and Coach (Vince) Amey for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play at this level, and also I would like to thank my teammates for their support.โ

Cloy, who would have been a redshirt sophomore this season, said he would continue to be part of the program in the โrecruiting department.โ
Cloy came to Arizona as a tight end after attending La Habra (Calif.) High and Milford Academy, a prep school in New Berlin, New York. He played in 11 games in 2015, mainly on special teams, and caught one pass for 6 yards. He did not appear in a game last season.
Cloy became the second Wildcat to medically retire this month, joining tight end Brion Anduze. Cloy became the second defensive lineman to retire this offseason, joining Justin Holt. However, Arizona has taken steps to bolster its line, adding transfers Dereck Boles from Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College and Noah Jefferson from USC. Jefferson is not expected to be eligible until 2018.
