Two former Arizona receivers were jobless when the Los Angeles Rams kicked off training camp at the end of July.

A couple days later, that changed when the Rams signed bothΒ Austin Hill andΒ David Richards to their training camp roster.

The Rams, of course, are featured on this year's HBO series "Hard Knocks", which goes behind-the-scenes of an NFL team's training camp each season.

So far, Hill has become a popular, and prominent, part of the show. Last week, the show featured Hill and Richards when they signed their contract, along with some footage of Hill with his girlfriend and daughter, Rielyn.

For those interested in watching the episode (you'll need an HBO, HBO Go, or HBO Now subscription), Hill's main portion comes in a little past the 30 minute mark.

This week (cue spoiler alert for those who haven't watched yet for the next three paragraphs), Hill did his best to pull at the heart strings of all the viewers. First, it showed Hill fighting for reps during practice.Β

"As a rookie we don’t get as many pop as the vets and older guys so you really have to make those opportunities count," Hill said on the show. "If you get one rep, you better make that one rep amazing so they’ll give you more."Β

Later, it featured Hill spending some time with his daughter. Finally, toward the end of the episode, it showed Hill getting some playing time in the Rams second preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hill had no catches, or any balls thrown his way.

Hill went undrafted after the 2014 season, and Richards went undrafted after 2015. Hill signed with the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets last year as an undrafted free agent but didn't make either team, and in October he was signed to the New England Patriots practice squad.

Richards similarly was cut by both the Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns this summer.Β
