A year ago, Arizona's quarterback position might, arguably, have looked like its most stable.

Anu Solomon and Brandon Dawkins were returning, four-star freshman Khalil Tate enrolled early and the Wildcats had both Braxton Burmeister and Rhett Rodriguez on the 2017 pipeline.

Well, a lot has changed since then — Solomon is transferring to Baylor, Burmeister flipped to Oregon at the last minute and while both Dawkins and Tate showed flashes last season, both are still works in progress.

With the late "departure" of Burmeister, the Wildcats were left scrambling for depth at football's most important position. Wednesday, the Wildcats took the first steps to rectify that situation after offering two-star Nick Tronti a scholarship.

Tronti is currently committed to Charlotte, and holds offers from Indiana, Hawaii, Nevada, Marshall and a handful of other lower level FBS programs.

The 6-2, 210 pounder is considered a "dual threat" quarterback and an ideal fit for Arizona's offense. From Ponte Vedra High School in Florida, Tronti was named "Mr. Football" in Florida after a senior season where he threw for 3,328 yards, 34 touchdowns and four interceptions while rushing for 650 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Tronti will likely take an official visit to Arizona at some point before Signing Day on Feb. 1.
