High school state basketball playoffs began on Saturday, and the results were a mixed bag for local teams.Â
Local boys teams went 1-4, with Sahuaro delivering the only with with a 63-57 victory over Gilbert Mesquite. Girls teams went a combined 5-2. Rio Rico and Pueblo advanced in the Class 4A bracket, while Salpointe Catholic at Catalina Foothills both fell. The Class 3A teams â Empire, Sabino and Tanque Verde â all won, advancing to Friday's second round. Here's a look at Tuesday's scores, and what's ahead for the winning teams.
