Sometimes it requires a double-take to absorb what Brian Peabody’s Pima College men's basketball team is doing.

The Aztecs completed the regular season 30-0 on Wednesday. They have a 41-game winning streak in the ACCAC. They've gone 94-7 in the last three seasons.

Pima's Mason Hunt (22) is among four active carryover sophomores from last year's men's basketball team to complete their regular season careers with the Aztecs at 60-0 overall and 36-0 in ACCAC conference play.

When the region playoffs begin this week, the No. 4 Aztecs are one of just two undefeated teams among the 157 Division II teams in the NJCAA. (Johnson County College of Kansas is 28-0).

Somehow, Peabody followed last season's 35-1 record — which included Pima being ranked No. 1 for six weeks — despite losing four double-figure scorers: Cohenj Gonzales and Wes Ball to Colorado Mesa University, Max Majerle to North Dakota State and Gabe Oldham to Denver University.

What's next? The Aztecs are a lock to get into the NJCAA championship tournament and battle No. 1 Palm Beach State College, No. 2 Des Moines College and No. 3 Johnson County for the elusive title. I wouldn't put anything out of Peabody's reach.
