If you love Tucson pop-up markets that showcase local makers' wares but want to go a step further and get a peek at the process or try it yourself, check out Indigo Days this weekend.
For three days this weekend, artists, entrepreneurs and creatives will invade the Bring building on Scott Avenue for Indigo Days.
Indigo Days is hosted by Creative Tribe, a Tucson organization that brings women together for creative workshops — think vision boards, macramé and flower crowns.
It's a weekend to primp, craft, sweat and dream.
Theresa Delaney, founder of Creative Tribe, describes Indigo Days as an "interactive marketplace," where makers and artists not only sell their creations but also do a bit of demonstrating, too.
Annotated Audrey Art, for example, will have a giant coloring page and a ceramics artist will be doing henna.
If you've ever wanted to sample a Creative Tribe workshop, this is a good opportunity to do it, for only $5 a day.
"The larger concept behind it is to create an interactive marketplace where there's more to do than just shopping," Delaney said. "We wanted to create a bigger version of a Creative Tribe experience where you can meet with people on a much larger scale. ... Almost every vendor is also doing some kind of activity."
More than 40 artists, entrepreneurs and other professionals from Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Los Angeles will participate. Delaney wants to promote collaboration among communities.
There are also presentations and workshops scheduled throughout the weekend, covering everything from using social media to making flower crowns.
Your $5 admission gets you access to all of the workshops and panels and a beauty bar where you can sample natural products and get your hair braided, plus a HIIT workout on Sunday with Let's Sweat, an exercise studio in the downtown area.
The workshops and panels are first-come, first-served with about 15-20 people per workshop. You can purchase tickets in advance through Wednesday, April 25 and then at the door. Purchasing online gets you priority admission, Delaney said.
