The Love of Literacy children's book festival at the Children's Museum Tucson will encourage kids to celebrate books and reading.

The Children's Museum Tucson has a day of bookish fun scripted for Saturday.

At the Love of Literacy children's book festival, kids can craft, read and dream up stories of their own.

This is the sixth year the Children's Museum has hosted the festival.

"Love of Literacy is a way to bring books out of the school environment and gives kids the chance to explore reading in a fun, interactive way," wrote Teresa Truelsen, the museum's director of marketing, in an email.

You can expect all of Tucson's book lovers to be on site — Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, Tucson Festival of Books, Make Way for Books, Literacy Connects, Pima County Public Library and on it goes.

Kids can do activities hosted by the Tucson Festival of Books' Science City or settle in for performances by Stories that Soar!

Make bookmarks, learn Braille or check out a book from the Bookmobile.

It's all free.

Bring your bookworms to the Love of Literacy festival at the Children's Museum Tucson, 200 S. Sixth Ave., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23.

You can also get into the museum free all day.
