Firefighter Eduardo Canizales in Nogales, Sonora, checks whether a car seat is properly installed for 6-month-old Anngel Lopez Salcido.

If you're unsure whether your car seat was put in properly, you can have it checked for free by professionals on Saturday.

Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will teach parents how to install car seats properly at an event hosted by Safe Kids Pima County, Larry H. Miller, Pima County Sheriff's Department and Tucson Police Department.

Road injuries are the leading cause of unintentional deaths to children in the United States. A properly used car seat can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71 percent.Β
