Can you believe this craft took about $5 to make?!

If you're like me and have an overly-ambitious Pinterest board, the thought of actually starting that DIY farmhouse kitchen remodel or low carb meal prep for the month sounds too exhausting (I "pinned" it, that much should count, right?)

In my efforts to live like the Barefoot Contessa on a Dollar Spot budget, I've decided I'm going to make more Pinterest stuff. Which is great because I'm helping throw a bridal shower tea party at the end of April and I'm not spending enough money to buy a boat on the decorations.

So I'm starting small and tackling one of the easiest pins in the book, the candlestick holder dessert stand.

Looks easy enough. Fingers crossed!

The instructions seem simple, just stack a few plates on top of some candlestick holders and now you have something fancy enough to put cupcakes on.

Let's give it a try!

What you will need:

Note the cool Texas plate in the back.

• Two glass candlestick holders (purchased from a dollar store)

• Three plates in different sizes (I got these from a thrift store for about a dollar a plate)

• E6000 or any other type of strong adhesive

• Dry erase marker (optional)

Start by thoroughly washing and drying the plates and candlestick holders. Once dry, take a candlestick holder and glue it to the center of the largest plate. If you're unsure about placement, trace the edges of the holder onto the plate with a dry erase marker before glueing. Add adhesive to the top of the candlestick holder and place the next largest plate on top. Repeat this process one more time and ta-da!, you have yourself a pretty deesert stand. Leave the glue to dry overnight before using to ensure maximum bondage.

Use for treats or just to store or display things around the house.

It's tea time ready!

Did this pin work? I'm saying yes! If you're a pro at balancing things physically and metaphorically, this is the perfect craft for you.  I also liked that it didn't take up too much of my time (10 minutes max to assemble) and I have something I'm going to use for a long time. Also, I will say if you're planning on keeping this around make sure it's the epitome of broke elegance; head to the thrift store and give grandma's fancy, but mismatched, china plates a new life.

When I was done with this craft, a friend walked in and said people easily pay $30 for a dessert stand as classy as this. Such beautiful words to this crafter's ears. 😭👏
