If you're hoping to get your kids into a specific Tucson school district for the 2017-18 academic year, it's time to apply through open enrollment.
You can apply to schools inside and outside of your resident district. Decisions are made based on capacity and predicted enrollment, with students within a district taking priority.
Families can submit enrollment applications for TUSD schools starting today.
With the district's magnet program, you can put your child in a school that suits their interests. For example, if he or she is an amazing artist but is assigned to go to a school with a heavy math focus, you can apply to have him or her go to a school with an arts program.
Applications are due by Jan. 13 and students will be chosen by lottery later that month. Applications turned in after that will be considered for subsequent placement.

There's also an Enrollment Bus, that will be parked at various locations for the next several months, starting with Santa Rita High School today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also catch it from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Festival at Reid Park on Saturday.

Open enrollment at other districts
Other area districts also offer open enrollment. Here are the details:
Amphitheater
Open enrollment for this district allows students within the district to go to a different district school outside their home attendance boundaries and allows students outside the district to go to a school in the Amphi district.
Forms will be available Dec. 1 and must be turned in by Jan. 15.
You can get the application online, here or from your school of choice.
Catalina Foothills
Applicants who apply between Nov. 1 and Jan. 31 are given equal consideration for placement. If there's not enough room for all who apply, students will be chosen through a random selection process. If there's more room after Jan. 31, the district will respond to applicants on a first-come first-served basis.

Flowing Wells
Open enrollment starts Jan. 9 and applications are reviewed and assessed on a continual basis, so there is no cut off date.
Find the application here or at the school of interest and turn it in at the school you're enrolling in.
Marana
Download the application online here and turn it in by Feb. 1. If there isn't enough room for all who apply, applicants will be chosen by a random selection process. Applications turned in after Feb. 1 will still be considered if there's room, but at a lower priority.
You'll be notified of acceptance no later than two weeks before the first day of school.
Sahuarita
As long as there's room, Sahuarita welcomes students from outside the district.
You can apply Nov. 21 through Feb. 22. All applicants are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis and the schools' open enrollment capacities fill up quickly. If the application is turned in after 4 p.m. Feb. 22, there is a higher chance of being denied due to capacity issues.

Sunnyside
Sunnyside has open enrollment throughout the year.
It has two magnet schools where enrollment is by lottery. Those are Gallego Intermediate and Gallego Primary Schools. Open enrollment for the two schools starts Dec. 12.
The lottery process takes place in January.
You have to call the school you're interested in to go about enrolling. Click here for contact info.
Tanque Verde
The open enrollment period is Nov. 1 through March 1. Selections are made through a random lottery.
Admission is subject to capacity limitations and applicable to each school, grade, level, program and type of special services provided. Notification of acceptance will occur in mid to late March.
Open enrollment applications for each school can be found here.
Vail
Applications will be accepted from Dec. 1 to April 1 for the Vail School District. Applications should be submitted to the desired school.
If there's not enough room for all applicants, they'll be selected through a random selection process.
