The United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona is inviting local nonprofits to sign up to benefit from projects in this year’s Days of Caring.
The annual event, now in its 18th year, will be held Oct. 20-21. It is Southern Arizona’s largest volunteer event.
The United Way is inviting schools, nonprofits, child-care centers, long-term care centers, community gardens and neighborhood associations to sign up online to benefit from projects that will be performed during Days of Caring.
Registration is open and the deadline to submit a project is Aug. 4.
Last year, more than 3,700 volunteers worked on 130 projects to improve the community, according to the United Way.
Some projects last year included Target employees serving meals at the Gospel Rescue Mission; employees of KB Homes and Trico Electric completed new garden planters at Gladden Farms Elementary School; University of Arizona Eller College of Management students completed 28 projects with different organizations; and Texas Instruments employees volunteered at Felicia’s Farm.
