Mountain View handed Flowing Wells the Cabs' first loss of the season on Friday in dominant fashion.

The Mountain Lions jumped out to a 47-6 lead in the first three quarters, as the running clock for blowouts was activated in MV’s 47-14 win.
Nine Mountain Lions combined to rush for 175 yards, led by sophomore Drake Davis, who had 87 on four runs.

Trailing by a point with 1:27 left, Tucson High prepared to receive Canyon del Oro’s kickoff. Badger sophomore Ezra Spivey opted to return the kick from the 1-yard line rather than let it go for a touchback and returned it to their 44-yard line. On the ensuing drive, Tucson senior Makoa Pena caught the game-winning touchdown off a pass from senior quarterback Derek Mesa. The Badgers won 28-23.

- On Friday, Pueblo had two backs run for at least 107 yards in its 48-3 win at Cholla. Senior Jeremiah Sandoval ran for 111 yards on three carries (37-yard average), with a long 86 yards. Senior Andrew Armenta rushed for 107 yards on seven carries with a long of 50.
- Sierra Vista Buena senior receiver/cornerback Jayden Thomas caught four passes for 199 yards in the Colts’ 34-0 win over Casa Grande Vista Grande last week. Thomas’ longest catch was 85 yards, and he had three touchdowns.

Washington freshman receiver Dezmen Roebuck led the Huskies in receiving yards with 108 on four catches in UW’s 38-19 win over Maryland on Friday. Washington head coach Jedd Fisch admitted he didn’t know how quickly the Marana alumnus would adjust to college.

Notable: At 7 p.m. on Friday, two of the hotter teams in Southern Arizona face off. Tucson High has won three in a row, and Marana has won six straight. At 4-0 in 5A Sonoran play, the Tigers can win the region by beating the Badgers, who are 3-1 in the region.
Marana senior quarterback Colten Meyer leads the 5A in passing with 2,094 yards, while Tucson High senior Noah Chanez is sixth in the conference in touchdowns (14) and fifth in kickoff returns (41.8 yards average).
Cienega (4-3) at Flowing Wells (6-1)
Where: 3725 N. Flowing Wells Road
Notable: Cienega travels west, having won four of its last five. Friday’s game, at 7 p.m., is important if it wants to catch Desert View, 4-0 in region play, in the race for the 5A Southern title. Both the Bobcats and Caballeros are 2-1 in the region.
Cienega senior defensive lineman Andrei Davis-Lopez leads the 5A in sacks with 15, and Flowing Wells senior running back Jayden Simmons is sixth in the conference in rushing (912 yards) and fourth in touchdowns (16).
