Hiring the right people and managing them effectively is a challenge for many business owners. When done well, organizations see increased employee morale, productivity and profitability.

There are certain skills every employee must possess to be successful. The required skill sets vary from one position to another. In addition, each position creates its own unique environment.

For example, the skills required to be an exceptional outside sales rep are completely different from those of the administrative assistant. The work environment where they spend their time is completely different, too.

The trick is to hire people with the skills they need to be successful and the personality to thrive in that specific work environment.

Even when you get this right, you still have to manage them effectively for years to come. There are several different personality types and each employee needs to be managed and motivated in a slightly different way.

There is a free online tool that will help you do all of this. It is called the DISC Plus Profile and can be found at tonyrobbins.com/disc.

This assessment will allow you to identify the personality type of every employee. The detailed report identifies the types of positions they are best suited for and the environment they will thrive in. Finally, the report describes exactly what motivates each employee and which style of management is necessary to manage them effectively.

This is a very useful tool for existing employees, too. Is it possible you have an employee in the wrong position? Is it possible that one of your employees needs a slightly different management style to increase their productivity and morale?

Your human resources are your most valuable asset. Could this tool help you maximize the value of that asset? Maybe it could help improve your personal relationships, too.
