A friend of mine sent me a link to Les Brown’s β€œI Will Persist Until I Succeed” video. Here is a brief outline of the key points in the video.

Brown states you need to constantly develop your mind and never stop learning new things. You get what you are, not what you want. It is also important to develop your communication skills. Once you open your mouth, you tell the world who you are.

Surround yourself with quality people who are hungry. Look for the people who are willing to do things other people won’t, so tomorrow they can have what the others will not. Look for people who do what they know, not what they feel.

If you do what is easy, your life will be hard. If you do what is hard, your life will be easy. Look at your life. If you are not getting what you want, do something different.

Most people are governed by their habits, fears and the opinions of others. Do not allow your ideas to lie dormant and to collect dust. It is going to take everything you have, including patience and perseverance. It takes a sense of urgency on your part. There is no certainty in life, so what are you waiting for?

What’s the benefit if you are not living your dream? If there is something else you need to be doing, go do it. Focus on what you want to do. Out of that comes commitment and passion.

Try putting yourself in a position where you cannot retreat; it’s sink or swim. You will develop some great swimming skills.

Take a deep look inside yourself. You have not done all that you can do. You have not done everything possible to develop yourself, to make a contribution, to make a difference in the lives of those around you.

Make that your goal for today.
