- Arizona Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons: The local practice has launched a program that will give Tucson-area residents in need a chance at a new smile through full-arch restoration. The procedure, which costs upwards of $50,000, will be performed free of charge. The Second Chance program is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of a local resident who suffers from extremely poor oral health and cannot afford the surgery on their own. The application period for the Second Chance program opened Sept. 26, and will run until Oct. 26. Interested residents can apply online at azoms.com/secondchance. Local businesses interested in supporting the Second Chance program can make a donation at azoms.com/donate.
- The Marshall Foundation: The foundation donated $5,000 to Step Up to Justiceβs minor guardianship assistance project. The grant will help next-of-kin secure minor guardianship for children whose parents are unable to care for them.
- Alanβs Shoes and Shoe District: The Tucson shoe stores are working to collect new and gently used shoes for people in need. The Shoestrings of Hope Shoe Drive runs from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. For each pair donated, customers will receive a $10 coupon toward the purchase of a new pair of shoes. The donated shoes will be given to local organizations such as the Primavera Foundation and the Assistance League Tucson. Shoe donations will also be made to the international organization, Soles4Souls, which helps children and adults worldwide.
- Rotary Club of Tucson Sunrise: The club distributed dictionaries to the third-grade classes at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, 3610 S. 12th Ave.
