Longtime local shoe retailer Alan Miklofsky was named 2015 retailer of the year by the National Shoe Retailers Association.
Miklofsky is president of Alan’s Shoes/New Balance Tucson, with more than 50 employees and five stores. Miklofsky and his wife, Annette, have been operating stores in the Tucson area since 1982 and have been joined in the business by sons David and Michael.
Alan Miklofsky received the award on Nov. 20 during the NSRA’S Annual Leadership Conference in Charleston, South Carolina.
The Miklofskys operate Alan’s Shoe House/New Balance Tucson, 5632 E. Speedway; Alan’s Shoe House Oracle, 6030 N. Oracle Road; Alan’s Shoe House/New Balance Tucson, 7366 N. Oracle Road; Alan’s Shoe House Broadway, 5350 E. Broadway; and Alan’s Birkenstock, 7366 N. Oracle Road.
Alan Miklofsky has served on the board of the National Shoe Retailers Association since 1993 and served as chairman from 2009 and 2011.
During that time the association, which was founded in 1912, moved its national headquarters to Tucson.
