Sam Levitz Furniture presented Tu Nidito board members with a check for $15,000.

  • Sam Levitz Furniture: The Tucson business donated $15,000 to Tu Nidito, a local nonprofit organization helping children in grief. The money was raised through Sam Levitz’ 64th anniversary promotion, donating a portion of every sale during the month of March to Tu Nidito. Tu Nidito recently dedicated their Teen Group room, outfitted by Sam Levitz, to the furniture business.
  • Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation: The organization awarded $80,831 to the University of Arizona College of Medicine’s Tucson’s Mobile Health Program, which serves uninsured families and individuals in Pima County. The D-backs β€œKen Kendrick Grand Slam Award” will fund the purchase of two ultrasound machines, as well as new computers and telemedicine equipment that will enhance the Mobile Health Program’s mission of providing prenatal care to pregnant women. The Mobile Health Program operates in partnership with Banner Health.
  • Home Depot/Habitat for Humanity Tucson: On April 20, more than 10 Tucson-area Home Depot associates partnered with Habitat for Humanity Tucson to update the home of local Marine veteran Larry Andrunaik. The 72-year-old Andrunaik served three tours in Vietnam. The project is part of The Home Depot’s ongoing efforts to improve the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families. Since 2011, The Home Depot Foundation has transformed close to 30,000 homes for veterans and 8,500 veteran facilities across the country.
  • Caliber Collision: Caliber is working to collect 5 million meals during its sixth annual Restoration Food Drive as part of its commitment to fight childhood hunger. The drive, which is already underway, will run through May 19. Food and cash donations collected at Caliber’s four Tucson locations will benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. Collection centers are set up at 3747 S. Palo Verde Road; 721 E. 12th Street; 8120 E. Research Center; and 635 E. Vuelta Caminata Del Rio in Oro Valley. Donations can also be made online at CaliberDonations.com.
