Trying new experiences is usually on top of some of our New Year’s resolution list.

But you don’t have to wait until 2026 to expand your palette, you can already get a head start!

From an authentic buffalo wings sports bar to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant that’s taken Instagram by storm, there are so many new food spots that have popped up in Tucson during the fall.

Check out all the restaurants that recently opened below, and try something new! Who knows, you may find your new go-to place!

A plate of traditional buffalo wings from Anchor Bar, home of the original buffalo wing, 7080 East 22nd Street, in Tucson.

Anchor Bar

If you're a Buffalo Bills fan, this will be your new favorite place! The Anchor Bar, birthplace of the ubiquitous buffalo wings, has been a Buffalo institution since it opened at 1047 Main St. downtown in 1935. Stop by and eat all the buffalo wings you can, while cheering on Josh Allen. The Tucson location, which opened in October, is the first in Arizona.

Cal’s Bakeshop will be opening their first brick-and-mortar this weekend at 2707 E. Broadway.

Cal’s Bakeshop

In October, Cal’s Bakeshop moved into the old Rocco’s Little Chicago building, bringing all their amazing vegan donuts and pastries with them. Owner, Caleb Orellana, made the leap from home bakery to brick-and-mortar, making sure Tucsonans can now start their morning with a chocolate dipped concha and ube latte. Trust me, you’ll be stopping by everyday for one of their brioche donuts.

A mural by local artist Joe Pagac, adorns the outside of the new Desert Drifter coffee shop, one of three locations opening soon. Each of the shops will feature a mural by Pagac.

Desert Drifter Coffee

Oregon transplants, Eddy Yunkherr and his wife, are taking drive-thru coffee to the next level. Their flagship on the corner of North Main Avenue, whicg opened back in September, serves all kinds of creative drinks, along with other local goodies, like Holy Focaccia breakfast sandwiches. The best part: it has a beautiful Joe Pagac mural on the side of the building!

You can now walk up to their window and grab fresh rye bread, focaccia slices, and the best croissants in town! (Seriously their chocolate croissants are no joke)

This new all-you-can-eat sushi spot has taken Tucson by storm! At this new eastside restaurant, you can order all the sushi, sashimi, and hibachi you want. (Yes, it’s all made fresh to order!) Be warned, social media has been buzzing about Kintaro so the wait time may be a bit long, but it’s worth it for sushi though!

Kintoki Sushi House

You can never have enough sushi! Kintoki officially opened in December, offering next-level sushi, hand-crafted cocktails and ice-cold beer. Chili lime edamame, spicy jalapeño salmon rolls, and seared chilean sea bass are just a few of the items on their menu.

Truland Burgers & Greens

This local burger restaurant opened a new location in October. Aaron Lopez, far right, chef and owner, uses a blowtorch to bring out the fragrance of the creosote on a dish before it goes out to diners at Ursa, 110 E. Congress St. The new downtown restaurant has a tasting menu focused on bridging the divide between what we eat today and the ingredients our predecessors had in the past.

Ursa

At Ursa, Aaron Lopez and his wife/partner, June, focus on desert to table meals, creating dishes from foraged or heritage Sonoran Desert ingredients. You won’t find a steak or roasted chicken at this fine-dining restaurant, as Ursa only serves game — quail, deer and wild boar sourced from Texas-based Broken Arrow Ranch.

Location: 110 E. Congress St.
