Carryout food

Instacart and UberEATS have launched in Tucson, delivering groceries and restaurant meals.

The Tucson market has just been flooded with a monsoon of food delivery apps. Uber Eats and the grocery delivery service Instacart have just moved in this week, partnering up with local restaurants to bring food direct to your door (or dorm room). Just so you can keep it all straight, here's a list of what we've got right now ...

Uber Eats

More than 80 local restaurants have signed on to Uber's meal delivery app, including Eegee's (!), Mandarin Grill, Brother John's, Alibaba, Fuku Sushi and more. Delivery times range from 10 to 40 minutes during dinner in the downtown area. When choosing a meal, you can also sort by dietary restrictions, price and recommended spots.

Price: Menu prices are only slightly higher than they are at the restaurant, but Uber tacks on a delivery fee ranging from $4.99 to $7.99. Extra fees may apply.

Eat Street

The pickings look a little slimmer on this app, but the price is right. Choose from a couple dozen restaurants in the UA area, including 1702, Frog and Firkin, Sinbad's, Mama's Hawaiian Bar-B-Cue and more. You can also order takeout through them, which I still don't really understand why you'd want to do. Sort by rating, price and location. Note: Many of the restaurants on here have delivery minimums of $10 to $25.

Price: App prices look very similar to those in the restaurant. Delivery fees are mostly in the $3 to $5 range.

You can order these Spam musubi rolls from Mama's Hawaiian Bar-B-Cue on Eat Street for $2 apiece.

Grubhub

Grubhub has about two dozen restaurants in the UA area, including La Botana Mexican food, Sauce pizza, Humble Pie and Union Public House on Campbell. This one has a few more chain restaurants as well, like Rubio's and Smashburger. The app allows you to sort by cuisine and price, as well as ratings.

Price: App prices appear the same as the restaurant, and most of the delivery fees range between $2 and $4.

GoPuff

GoPuff specializes in beer, groceries and convenience store items, which they deliver well into the morning. The company touts a maximum 30 minute wait for any delivery. Rather than going through grocery stores like Instacart, the products come directly from the GoPuff warehouse.

Price: Deliveries cost a flat $1.95, but it's free if you spend $49 or more

Instacart

This new grocery delivery app let you shop from local stores like Whole Foods, Costco, Natural Grocers, CVS, Fry's, Petco and Bashas'. The app doesn't work directly with the stores, so when you order, a person goes and physically shops for you, then brings it to your door. They promise a delivery in under and hour.

Price: App prices are comparable to the stores, with an added fee after the first order.
