Gilbert Gottfried is heading to Laffs Comedy Caffe on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
Yes, you read that correctly: Gottfried, whose loud, often grating voice and politically-incorrect, impeccably-timed and very funny jokes have earned him dozens of film and TV appearances as well as a few black eyes β remember when he told that tasteless, way-too-soon tsunami joke following the 2011 Japan earthquake? β is playing our way-off-the-radar-from-New-York comedy club.
Heβs actually playing a bunch of comedy clubs around the country including the Tempe Improv and the Copper Blues music club in Phoenix after us.
Heβs doing two shows at Laffs β at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Admission is $25 in advance at eventbrite.com or at the door, 2900 E. Broadway.
Laffs officials said Gottfriedβs show is a rental. The club has stayed away from bigger named comedians in the past couple years.
But that doesnβt mean they arenβt attracting marquee-worthy comics.
This weekend, Louisiana native Lisa Landry is spreading all kinds of cajun love with a show at 7 p.m. on Valentineβs Day, Thursday, Feb. 14. Tickets are $30 per person, which includes dinner, free roses and chocolates for the ladies and free champagne. (Reservations at laffstucson.com.)
Landry, who has appeared on βLaw & Order: SVU,β and a number of talk shows and comedy shows including βComics Unleashed,β βStand up in Stilettos,β βThe Bonnie Hunt Showβ and βThe Bob & Tom Show,β is doing four more Laffs shows: at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, and 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. Admission is $12.50 and $17.50.
