When is a tweet worth $10,000?

When it perfectly sums up, in 140 characters, why your non-profit deserves a grant.

True Concord Voices & Orchestra of Tucson was among 10 groups that did just that in the 2016 Deluxe Corporation Foundation's Short & Tweet Grant Program.

The national foundation got more than 900 tweet entries from around the country and narrowed the winners to 10. Applicants also had to submit a separate 500-word essay explaining their mission and activities.

True Concord founder and music director Eric Holtan said the group was surprised and elated at the win.

"It felt like a long shot," he said in an email.

True Concord's winning tweet: "We sing. We play. We inspire. Bringing more harmony to the world through the power of music one note at a time. @TrueConcordAZ #deluxecares"

True Concord will perform Bach's Magnificat in four concerts next week beginning Thursday, Nov. 17, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church on the east side. Click here for tickets.
