The Tucson Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet will inaugurate the orchestraโ€™s new Center Stage Series at 2 p.m. today at Tucson Symphony Center.

The series will feature TSO ensembles and soloists performing in the intimate setting of the centerโ€™s Performance Hall, 2175 N. Sixth Ave. The programs are designed by the musicians and cover everything from light classical works to jazz and folk songs.

The Brass Quintet โ€” Conrad Jones, Betsy Bright Morgan, Victor Valenzuela, Mike Becker and David Morgan โ€” will perform works by Aaron Copland, de Falla, and a suite of 17th-century dances by two different composers.

A highlight will be Tucsonan Bob Atwellโ€™s โ€œFanfare for the Uncommon Woman,โ€ inspired by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

The TSO Center Stage series includes performances by the Piano Trio on Jan. 25, the Percussion Ensemble on March 7 and Concertmaster Lauren Roth with pianist Paula Fan on March 22.

Tickets are $25 and are available at ticketmaster.com or at the door. Order by phone at 882-8585.
