Tucson blues fans are going to get a taste of northern Arizona blues at the first-ever Arizona Blues Hall of Fame Showcase Saturday, March 7, at Monterey Court.

The showcase, sponsored by Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation, KXCI and Marty Kool’s Blues Review on KXCI, will feature three bands from northern and central Arizona, including one fronted by a Tucson native. The bands have rarely, if ever, played in Tucson.

Saturday's concert will be the first time in many years that Harrison Begay has performed in Tucson. The Tucson native, now based out of Prescott, fronts the smooth and funky Sir Harrison Band.

Blues hall of famer Harrison Begay and his Sir Harrison Band are coming home to Tucson for the first time in years.

Begay, who was inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame last year, represented the state at the 2020 International Blues Challenge. His 2007 album "Sir Harrison and the Blues Kings" was nominated for a Best Blues Album award by the Native American Music Awards.

The showcase headliner is Flagstaff's S.E. Willis and the Willing, led by multi-instrumentalist Steve “S.E.” Willis, a former long-time member of the storied Elvin Bishop Band.

S.E. Willis and his band headline Saturday's Blues Hall of Fame Showcase at Monterey Court.

In a career that has spanned nearly seven decades, Willis, inducted into the hall of fame in 1998, has distinguished his unique sound that fuses blues, rock, boogie and zydeco with a splash of country.

Lucius Parr has opened for such blues royalty as Bobby Rush, BB King and Buddy Guy, and has shared the stage with Albert Collins, Johnny Copeland and Charlie Daniels.

Lucius Parr has opened for such blues luminaries as Buddy Guy and BB King.

The Phoenix-based Lucius Parr’s Blues Band leans Texas blues — old school soul-drenched blues that borrow from R&B with some rock-inclined flashes.

Saturday's concert at Monterey Court, 505 W. Miracle Mile, begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 through tableagent.com/tucson/monterey-court-cafe.
