Knight‘s show will likely crisscross her extraordinary career that started with Motown in the 1960s and traversed nearly every decade since.
She’s released 38 albums between her extensive discography with Gladys Knight & the Pips from 1962-87 and solo studio albums from 1978’s “Miss Gladys Knight” to her most recent, 2014’s “Where My Heart Belongs.”
Her hits include “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “That’s What Friends Are For,” “If I Were Your Woman,” “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “Neither One of Us,” “Every Beat of My Heart” and “I Don’t Want to Know.”

Which could explain why we haven’t seen her on a Tucson stage since she played The Rialto Theatre in 2013.
She is finally returning to play a show at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Rialto in support of her latest album, 2023’s “Workin’ on a World.”
The album takes her back to her gospel wheel well with a renewed “purpose to deliver a collection that is as timely as it is timeless,” opined Timothy Monger for AllMusic.
“In a broad sense, she has made a protest album, one which speaks to present-day issues (gun violence, police brutality, climate change) in a way that inspires activism rather than despair,” Monger wrote.
