Pima Council on Aging is often the first place adults of all ages call or visit when they have questions about issues that impact people as they age.

The PCOA Help Line at 790-7262 operates Monday through Friday to take calls and help with answers and resources, starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.

The PCOA Help Line staff are certified information specialists who provide unbiased answers on aging issues, and also can guide a person to allied resources across the community and around Pima County.

This summer's extreme heat has prompted a number of calls from older adults, who are among the vulnerable populations at higher risk of heat-related illnesses. Callers also included low-income elders who own their own homes but are cash-strapped for cooler maintenance or repairs, said Adina Wingate, PCOA's marketing director.

To make more people aware of heat-related dangers, Wingate has provided information from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and it’s initiative to get adults of all ages to stay safe in the summer heat.
