Spice

These packages of Spice for sale were found at a Tucson smoke shop.

St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way, will host an information session about the drug known as "spice" 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Raids of businesses and homes last month illuminated a problem the church sees daily, with addicts seeking food and water from the church's social services center.

Representatives from Pima County Interfaith Civic Education Organization, the church and Tucson Police Department will provide information and answer questions in Spanish and English at the south-side church Tuesday.

The event corresponds with the Give Them Food Campaign, a joint effort between the parish and Pima County Interfaith to provide food and water instead of money to addicts.
