Awam Tibetan Buddhist Institute

Dean Pielstick, the kenpho of the Awam Tibetan Buddhist Institute, leads a Tibetan Yoga session at the group’s space. Pielstick wanted to change the fact that the local Buddhist organizations did not know much about one other.

The Awam Tibetan Buddhist Institute, 3400 E. Speedway, will show the film "Blessings: The Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet" 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 17 as part of its regular movie and potluck party.Β

The film, directed by Victress Hitchcock, explores the role of women in Tibetan Buddhism by focusing on nuns living in Tibet, according to press materials.

The event is free but a dish to share and a monetary donation toward rent are encouraged.Β
