As of Friday, more than 20,000 pets had come through Pima Animal Care Center this year. PACC turns no pet away. That means the organization faces challenges in order to reach its goal of saving all animals who can be saved. Thanks to the work of more than 600 active volunteers, 55-plus rescue partners and thousands of donors, our goal is much closer: Five years ago the county shelter saved 57 percent. Thus far this year, PACC has reached a 90 percent save rate. Part of the success is due to donations to PACC’s nonprofit partner, the Friends of PACC, which provides critically needed supplemental resources, such as medications, medical equipment and pet enrichment. Meet some of those animals who have gone on to healthy, happy lives.
