In 1960, the Tucson Citizen featured the home of Ed and Evelyn Carmack, who remodeled their home in the Catalina Foothills Estates so it would work when there was a house full of of children and grandchildren and when there was just the two of them.

1960 photos: This home stresses livability
Shades of pastel bronze in walls and carpeting blend with a natural driftwood finish of cabinets and ceiling in the Carmack living room. A Dale and Marjorie Nichols water color hangs over the brick fireplace. Couch is in bright persimmon brocade. Chinese objets d'art are from a collection belonging originally to Mrs. Carmack's sister-in-law, who was a missionary in China.
