Mark Reynoso and Maria De Santiago

A detective with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for leads in a 2017 double-homicide in Mammoth, a community about 50 miles northeast of Tucson.

Relatives of Mark Reynoso, 34, and Maria De Santiago, 28, along with Pinal County Victim Services and Silent Witness are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the shooting deaths of the couple on Jan. 31, 2017, according to authorities.

During a news conference Tuesday, Detective Joe Bonucci said the investigation has been "extremely frustrating", and that evidence at the scene was limited.

"He was brutally murdered," said Laney Reynoso, Mark's mother, at the news conference. "We don't know who did this or why, but they took a good man from everybody. He helped everyone in the community. I don't understand how anyone could be so cruel," she said.

On the day of the slayings, the Mammoth Police Department received a report shortly after 11 a.m. of shots fired in the area of where the couple lived at 485 S. Main.

However, officers could not locate where the shots originated. Shortly before noon, family members called 911 after discovering the bodies of Reynoso and De Santiago, authorities said. The bodies were found by investigators outdoors, just a few feet away from their home.

Detectives believe the assailant, or assailants drove to the couple's home in a midsize sedan or truck.

Investigators believe the slayings were committed with one gun, and both Reynoso and De Santiago were shot multiple times. Robbery does not appear to be a motive, Bonucci said.

No witnesses have come forward, and investigators have not received any "credible tips," said Bonucci.

Mammoth is a small town and "somebody has information," said Bonucci. "The families deserve justice," he said.

Authorities ask that anyone with information to call the Pinal County Sheriff's Office at 520-866-5105 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. Persons can also call 1-800-343-TIPS.
