The Catalina Foothills School District is getting the money it asked for from voters.

Voters approved the district's request for $22 million in bonds and an override in its capital budget, which would give the district $2 million annually for seven years.Β

Both the bond and override questions had about a 6 to 4 ratio of yes to no votes.Β

"Our voters want excellent public schools in our neighborhood," Superintendent Mary Kamerzell said Wednesday afternoon. "They’ve already invested deeply in our schools over time."

With the $22 million, the district intends to use it for making upgrades to facilities, including replacing tile, carpeting, air conditioning units, roofs and countertops.

One of the top priorities is a summer 2016 restoration project for Sunrise Drive Elementary School, which is Catalina Foothills' oldest school.Β

With money generated from the override, the district would provide each student with an electronic device that can access the internet and fund the purchase of hardware, software and infrastructure needed to support technology-based learning.
