Douglas and Huachuca City ran out of ballots Tuesday, and voters at some Cochise County sites faced long lines, elections officials confirmed.
"Voters should know that everyone in line at 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) will be able to cast their ballot this evening. Our Vote Centers will all remain open until the last voter casts their vote. Each vote counts and each and every vote gets counted accurately," Cochise County elections officials said in a news release at 7 p.m.
Some voters were waiting for over 90 minutes at the only polling place in Douglas, says Shirley Hicks, a volunteer in for the Democratic Party in the border city.
The long wait is made worse by a lack of parking, she said.
"It is just outrageous," Hicks said.
Some elderly voters left without voting, telling volunteer Claudia Romo that that they were unable stand and wait any longer.
Similar reports of long lines at the polls have been made in Bisbee and Sierra Vista.
Several calls to Cochise County election officials were not immediately returned.
