Parts of southern Arizona may experience heavy rainfall and potential flooding, the National Weather Service says.

The Nogales area saw a strong storm earlier on Wednesday but that the weather has since calmed and moved toward Arivaca, Meteorologist Mike Cantin said.

Tucson is also preparing to get its share of rain and the agency has issued a flood warning until nighttime.

The Tucson area saw a little less than half an inch of rain on Tuesday night but Wednesday has been mostly dry, though heavy clouds developed in the afternoon.

Areas around Speedway and Tanque Verde and Houghton roads should be on the lookout out for flooded streets washes.
