Several vehicles make their way down the Santa Catalina Mountain near Geology Vista as the road to Mt Lemmon became open for a short period for drivers with vehicles having four-wheel drive or chains.

Pima County officials announced the opening of the Mt. Lemmon Highway Friday afternoon after early morning whiteout conditions and heavy snow led to its closure just after 7 a.m. Friday.

However, the Pima County Sheriff's Department tweeted that the road is only open to residents.Β Chains and four-wheel drive are required to go up the highway, both theΒ Pima County Department of Transportation and Sheriff's Department said.Β 

The Transportation Department announced the closure ofΒ Wentworth Road at Tanque Verde Creek andΒ Tanque Verde Loop Road at the Tanque Verde Creek.
