Actress Nancy Marchand, a native of the Buffalo area, has been chosen as the seventh recipient of the Lucy Award by the Shea's Performing Arts Center's Western New York Entertainment Hall of Fame.

She will receive her award at induction ceremonies in June on a day and time to be determined.

Four years ago in 1991 she appeared in Buffalo playwright A.R. Gurney's "Children" at the Studio Arena Theatre. It was in the old Studio Theatre's school that she got her start in the late 1940s. From Buffalo she went to New York, landing parts in plays and eventually high-profile roles on television, and winning awards in both mediums. She was Mrs. Pynchon in "Lou Grant" on TV, and currently is in a film remake of "Sabrina."
