Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse

Emerge’s Ed Mercurio-Sakwa says more domestic-violence survivors are seeking help.

The Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse is holding two β€œstuff-the-truck” events to raise supplies for domestic-abuse survivors.

The events, held in conjunction with Two Men and a Truck moving company, will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Target, 10555 N. Oracle Road in Oro Valley; and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Sam Levitz, 100 N. Pantano Road.

β€œDue to a dramatic increase in the amount of survivors seeking services at Emerge, donations are needed now more than ever,” said Ed Mercurio-Sakwa, Emerge CEO.

The community can join Emerge in raising awareness about domestic violence on national Wear Purple Day on Oct. 18 by wearing purple clothing or accessories, taking a photo and sharing it on social media.

In Arizona in 2017, 87 people died from domestic-violence-related incidents, 16 in Pima County. There have been 55 domestic-violence-related deaths in 2018 as of August, 14 of them in Pima County.
