A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with vandalism of the historic Fox Theatre building.

Xavier Chavez was arrested Thursday and booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of criminal damage that was linked to graffiti of the building April 26, 2015, according to a Tucson Police Department Facebook post Monday.

The vandalism of the theatre at 17 W. Congress St. was estimated at about $3,000 in cleanup costs, police said.

Investigators say that Chavez is also linked to other graffiti, totaling $1,600 in cleanup efforts, throughout the city and county.

The Fox Theatre building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
