A man was killed during an officer-involved shooting at a popular golf resort on Tucson's north side Friday night, authorities said.

At about 11:30, Pima County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon, in the area of North Craycroft Road and East Sunrise Dr., said department spokesman, Deputy Ryan Inglett.

When one of the deputies approached a man to ask him about the disturbance, the man "physically attacked the deputy and the altercation escalated into an officer-involved shooting," Inglett said.

The man was shot and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing, but more information will be released on Monday, Inglett said.
