Allisa Pittman of Amphi Public Schools.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Allisa Pittman.

Nominated by: Marcela Arizpuro.

Why: Pittman has been employed by Amphitheater Public Schools since 1998. She works tirelessly to improve morale and camaraderie among staff, most notably through her leadership of the transportation volunteer committee. The group serves as a liaison for employees in the department by providing welcome packets for new staff, hosting birthday celebrations and retirement parties, and offering condolences for the loss of loved ones. When two bus drivers with the district passed away last year, Pittman took on the difficult task of sharing the sad news with the team, kept everyone informed and helped organize celebrations of life events for the drivers, Arizpuro wrote. Pittman is the heart of the Amphitheater Transportation Department, Arizpuro wrote. “She always goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone feels welcome, appreciated and valued.”
