Keith Hamblin, center, was recognized by Ben’s Bells last week.

What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”

Last week’s recipient: Keith Hamblin.

Nominated by: Cortney Adams.

Why: Hamblin works as a VA outreach technician for the Tucson Vet Center and he travels throughout Southern Arizona to work with military veterans concerning services and programs available to them. He helps them secure housing, jobs and benefits, and many other services. “He goes above and beyond,” Adams wrote when nominating Hamblin. Hamblin even gave up his portable air conditioning unit to a veteran who had no AC for several days. “This is just one example of the many additional things he has done in support of the veterans community. Keith’s kindness and willingness to help has spread not only to veterans, but also to friends, neighbors and strangers,” Adams wrote.
