A woman with a dog seen walking, sitting and lying down in a busy midtown street Thursday night was struck and killed by a car, Tucson police said.
Alicia M. Thompson, 31, was seen walking with a dog about 8 p.m. along South Craycroft Road near East Broadway before she and the dog were struck by a vehicle, Tucson police said in a news release.
Thompson died a short time later at the hospital. The dog was killed in the crash.
Witnesses told police the prior to the wreck Thompson was seen sitting and lying down in the southbound median lane of traffic, the release said.
Thompson was lying down when she and the dog were struck by a 2020 Honda CR-V. The driver, an unidentified 75-year-old, stopped and cooperated with the investigation, the release said.
The crash still is being investigated.
