Marana police have identified the driver who was killed in a single-vehicle crash last weekend.

Just after 4 a.m. Saturday, Jesus Verdugo, 42,  crashed near West Twin Peaks Road and North Blue Bonnet Road, Marana police said in a news release.

Investigators believe Verdugo was speeding south on Twin Peaks in a Chrysler 300 when he drove over the median and flipped in a desert area. Verdugo was thrown from the vehicle, which caught fire after the wreck, police said.

The investigation continues.
