TUSD to host meeting on safety in schools

The Tucson Unified School District will hold a community forum discussing school safety on Monday, March 12, at Sahuaro High School, 545 N. Camino Seco, from 6 to 8 p.m.

District and community leaders and law enforcement officials will be on hand to discuss concerns regarding gun violence, how the district prepares for emergencies and how it partners with local agencies.

The forum will be streamed live online at tusd1.org for those who cannot attend.

Marana district has free meals over break

The Marana Unified School District’s Marana Cares Mobile will provide free meals over spring break, March 19 to 23, at two locations.

Marana Cares Mobile offers meals in an air-conditioned and heated facility .

The meal service will be at Sandario and Anthony roads from 11 a.m. to noon and at 6560 W. El Tiro Road from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, through Friday, March 23.

Forum to focus

on youth suicide

The Pima County School Superintendent’s Office will hold a discussion about the number of suicides affecting children on March 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Abrams Public Health Center, Room 3102, at 3950 S. Country Club Road, #100.

The event will include a panel discussion and group interaction led by Patricia Demoroto of Community Bridges Inc., Dr. Andrea Romero of the University of Arizona, Kelley Burroughs of Jewish Family and Children Services and Todd A. Jaeger, superintendent of Amphitheater Public Schools.

Registration closes March 19, and the $15 registration fee includes lunch.
