A woman was killed Friday evening after her vehicle was washed away during a flash flood, Cochise County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
About 9:30 p.m. a woman reported that her vehicle was sinking in flood waters off of Ocotillo Road. When rescuers for the department’s Search and Rescue Team arrived, the found the woman's body several feet from her vehicle, the department said in a social media post.
When first arriving at the scene, rescue crews were able to rescue a man was being swept away in a nearby wash, the post said.
Meanwhile, about 2 a.m. Saturday, the team helped rescue an injured man from the bottom of the Lavender Mine Pit. A helicopter was used to pull the man for the pit and he was flown to a hospital, the post said.
