A woman riding a bicycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver Monday night on Tucson's north side.

The woman was taken to Banner-University Medical Center Tucson with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, said Deputy Chief Scott Hamblen of Northwest Fire District.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a red Corvette that likely has front end damage, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., motorists called 911 to report the incident and firefighters were dispatched to the 4200 block of North Flowing Wells Road, just south of West Wetmore Road, Hamblen said.

Paramedics treated the woman, in her 40s, and transported her to the hospital.

Deputies were at the scene late last night investigating the crash.

No further information was immediately available.
