TPD homicide

Tucson police are investigating a burning body found near the 3000 block of East Coconino Vista.

Police have identified the man whose body was discovered on fire in an alley Saturday morning as 25-year-old Omar M. Fox.

Shortly before 8 a.m., a resident was driving past an alley near the 3000 block of East Coconino Vista, north of the East Ajo Way and South Country Club Road intersection, when he saw a small fire. Once he got closer, the man realized it was a body and called 911, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Police arrived in minutes and immediately put out the fire with an extinguisher. It was confirmed that it was a body and the person was pronounced dead, Dugan said.

Homicide detectives arrived to continue the investigation.

A medical examination will be necessary to determine the cause of death, Dugan said.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the incident call 911 or 88-CRIME, should they wish to remain anonymous.
