Tucson police have identified a man and teen who were found dead in what police believe was a murder-suicide at an east-side home on Thursday.
After detectives investigated, they determined that 49-year-old Donald Stanley shot his wife and 15-year-old stepson Christian Garcia-Sanchez before turning the gun on himself, according to a Tucson Police Department news release.
Police said woman was wounded and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the teen boy was found deceased in the home.
Police were alerted to the incident just before 1 p.m. on Thursday after a 10-year-old son from the home told a neighbor of the shooting and the neighbor called 911, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a police spokesman.
According to police, the boy told officers that his father shot his mother and possibly his brother.
When officers arrived at the home in the 10400 block of East Windstorm Drive, near North Houghton Road and East Speedway, they were unable to make contact with anyone inside. Hostage negotiators were also called out to the scene, Dugan said.
Police made the decision to use a robot, which has a camera, to enter the residence. The robot located a dead man inside the home.
A woman was also found in the home with possible gunshot wounds, Dugan said. SWAT, along with medics, entered the home to treat the woman. She was taken to a hospital and her injuries are believed to be critical, but not life threatening, according to the news release.
While inside, officers also found the teen boy dead.
The 10-year-old boy was not injured and is staying with extended family, according to police.
Police are asking anyone with additional information to call 88-Crime or 911.
