The Bum Steer

The restaurant-bar opened in the early 1970s and closed in 2010. The 8,000-square-foot building has an upper level.

Tucson firefighters have been battling a structure fire at the vacant Bum Steer restaurant for nearly two hours.

The Tucson Fire Department responded to 911 calls for a building fire shortly before 2 p.m., and are currently fighting the fire from above, officials said.

Multiple ladder units are having a difficult time accessing void spaces and flames in the attic area of the multi-level building, as they're battling a "difficult fire load," a department spokesman said in a Tweet.

Stone is shut down in all directions between Ventura and East Lester Street and will be for several hours, Tucson Police Department said in a news release.

Bum Steer, located at 1910 North Stone Avenue, has been closed for more than two years.
